The flash flood catastrophe in 2013 left Uttarakhand in wreck. However, it is very satisfying to know that the state has been redeveloped and that too with some additional facilities to make ‘Chardham Yatra 2015’ safe and comfortable for tourists.
The pilgrimage dates of Yamnotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib have not been declared yet. But the Badrinath Yatra will commence from April 26.
The CM of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat, said on Friday that we are constructing a three-tier protection system that can stand against three times the velocity of flood that came in 2013. He further added “keeping in mind the convenience of pilgrims, four helipads have also been built.”
Few other facilities that have been put in place for Chardham Yatra 2015:
According to the chief minister, the state government has announced a tax holiday for one year to hoteliers on the way to Chardham. It will be a significant factor for hoteliers to offer low-cost accommodation and food to pilgrims.
Annually 1.5-1.2 crore tourists come to Uttarakhand, most of whom are pilgrims and adventure enthusiasts.
With lined up budget of Rs 300 crore for the fiscal year 2015-2016, Uttarakhand is poised to build new destinations and facilities in the state for all tourists, the CM said. According to him, a two-way ropeway for making Chardham Yatra is even more comfortable and enjoyable, is also under construction.
